Imposter Syndrome Is Wrapped In Self-Doubt

I’ll start by posing a few questions and statements to you.

Read them and think out loud if you have had them cross your mind.

• Why should I do this business when everyone else is selling the same product?
• Don’t you think the market is flooded with the same information?
• I think people have seen this over and over.
• I don’t think I am bringing something new to the table. (insert dramatic sounds)

All of them are valid but are these not the statements that kill our interests and dreams?

True story: I have thought about them too. Sometimes when I’m reading on a particular topic for a YouTube video, most times it’s because I am struggling with it and want more knowledge on it.

But when I think of posting, I’m like “How many times have people heard this?”

I post these videos to hold me accountable and to be something I can refer to in the future, but I’ll be lying if I say I haven’t used that as an encouragement too, when a video doesn’t get the reception I thought it would.

I have TWO THINGS that will free your mind completely from doubting yourself because they free me too whenever I am in that situation.

They will empower you to stand for the thing that’s in your heart to do and you will be less bothered about the thousands of others who are in the same field as you.

The first thing:  I got it from the GOOD book

1. We have different gifts!

Let’s check out 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

There are millions of people in this world. And that means from the gifts that are mentioned in this scripture, it’s not just one person with the gift of Faith or the gift of wisdom.

They are distributed to different people.

Picture this with me: if we were all to queue based on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we would have such long queues, right?

Can you imagine, even with that similarity we serve different audiences or people?

Your faith might impact a person in one way while the faith of another impacts the same person in a different way.

Don’t think your business idea is common and won’t have a market.

Don’t think your message is common and there will be no audience for it.

There is enough playground for everyone. Please stop limiting yourself with that scarcity mentality attitude.

If you believe you were meant to pursue the thing in your heart and you believe in it so badly, please, by all means, DO IT!

The opposite of scarcity is abundance. What will happen if you defeat that scarcity mentality, is you will see possibility.

If you start your business or build a website, you won’t be afraid of everyone else doing it, but you will think:

“There are so many places for me to learn from, for it not to be successful”.

Please don’t kill yourself trying to reinvent the wheel. That’s the thing.

This is what I truly wish for you. However, there is a catch that I will be sharing shortly.

2. Understand the concept of different seasons that people are in.

This is what I have learned about myself. When I am in a season where I am hungry for a certain thing, say, learning to play the guitar, I’ll look it up from different sources because I want to understand how different people go about it.

It’s like I am on a scavenger hunt for that information. And there is so much information out there on the topic.

Who is to say that I will not land on a piece of information you put out there???

People are so different and your output of things is different from someone else\’s.

Please understand that when people are in a certain season and maybe want to read about self-doubt, they will read as many blogs as possible on self-doubt and luckily enough, you were bold enough to write about it when you thought of it.

You get what I mean???

Let’s take another example: cooking!! You are in a time of your life when you want to learn how to make pizza.

You will look up different videos on YouTube to guide you on that.

You will discover, people have used different ingredients and processes to arrive at the same product. It’s up to you to pick what works for you.

Maybe it’s half of one person’s process and half of another person’s process that will produce your customized pizza-making process.

I’m convinced you get my message from these two points.

THE CAVEAT is THE HOW YOU DO IT!!

This should have you thinking of things like:

Consistency, excellence, research, value, time…

These are just a few things that can give you the competitive advantage you need to emerge at the top.

I truly hope you get to understand these two concepts because they are such a game-changer.
