Organizing is one of the first steps for improving your life.
It might seem small and trivial but it does more for your mind than you can imagine.
Have you ever walked into a space and you feel tired before you can even sit? Or into a kitchen and prefer to order a meal instead of cooking?
This is all because of the magic word for today, ORGANIZING!
I am the kind of person who gets so worked up mentally when I walk into such a space.
If it is you, my friend, causing your tribe such agony, then you have come to the right place…lol
We’ll focus on three areas where we can get organized.
a) Personal space
This is what meets your visitors\’ eyes when they come to visit.
You want to set a mood that allows people to feel comfortable in your space.
I am not saying you become an interior stylist (if there is a word like that) but if you can, it’s your space.
Show some love to it, you know;)
My go-to hacks for an organized space are:
- Have a home for everything so that things are not randomly placed (from the kitchen to the sitting area, to the balcony, and your bedroom).
- Return things to their place when you are done. This is part of my proactive laziness structure.
How it works you ask, you will do less work now instead of loads of work later.
if you get used to that, you will never have a pile of things to put away. Examples (Books, pens, anything really).
You\’re welcome;)
- Organize with a timer. Sometimes we might forget to put things back to where they belong.
I promise you if you can set a timer for five minutes every day for that, you will never dread the weekend.
I know we push most of our cleaning and organizing to the weekend.
But what if I told you there is a way to free up your weekend?? Well, I just did. Yaay!!
b) Finances
The best way to organize your money is definitely using a budget.
I am not a guru on financial knowledge but the bare minimum for everyone is to at least have a budget.
This tells your money where it should go.
I think one of the things that hold most of us back from doing budgets is thinking we don’t have a lot of money to budget for.
Say after me: I REFUSE A SCARCITY MENTALITY!!
Budget for the little you have and train your budgeting muscle.
It gives you so much power and confidence. Also when that big bag of money comes, you’ll not have trouble planning for it.
I recommend watching videos by Sara Wanyama here on YouTube because she will help you get organized with your money.
c) Mind
When the mind is cluttered, it can cause you a lot of embarrassment.
Think of an event where a guest speaker doesn’t show up because of an emergency.
The plan B is always to ask the most talkative and outgoing person to say something.
At least we are sure they won’t run out of words. But imagine the confusion that would be there if there was no one like that in the crowd.
If you ambushed someone who is not ready, they would almost pee their pants.
Another example. Picture the confusion that comes when you get late somewhere and find everyone already seated and the extra seat being somewhere in the middle.
Yes, you will find your way there eventually but it will take a few minutes for you to settle in and listen in.
That said, the hacks I use to stay organized in the mind are:
- Have a to-do list so you are not hopping from one task to another
- Have a shopping list so you can save your thinking time
- Having an order of events especially if you are a content creator. Plan your content and write down points in the way they should flow.
- Keep time. This Prevents the lateness example we mentioned earlier from happening.
- Take time to think about your responses before speaking. It helps you organize your words. Get comfortable with pausing to think. Don’t be quick to say things that don’t make sense.
I hope this was helpful.
