How to Reset Your Life With a Zero Budget

Do you ever get to points in life where you want a ‘life-makeover’ but your pocket screams ‘not now’?

I feel that way sometimes.

There is something that resets do to our minds.

They give us fresh perspectives.

They give us a new enthusiasm for life.

A reset doesn’t have to be overly dramatic, it can be something you do gradually like a monthly thing.

It can be challenging to do that when you are not at your best financially.

For instance, how do you do a reset when you just lost a job or are jobless? You get what I mean?

I stand corrected but I speak for the ladies by concluding that, if it were up to us, it would be massages, mani-pedis, movies, ice-creams, and catching up with friends all day!

It’s so unfortunate that that’s the life that’s portrayed in the reality shows.

It can be daunting watching people experience that when the closest you can get to that is through your screen.

There are other ways around it.

Let’s say no to that pity party.

I suggest to you a couple of things you can do to feel like you just went through a makeover.

We jump right into it, shall we?

Resetting Your Life With a Zero Budget

Words shape your mindset

Rearrange your house

This had to be at the top of the list.

Rearranging how your house looks gives you such an adrenaline boost.

The feeling is as though you just moved into a new house.

So yeah! Take time and change the arrangement of your couches.

Set up the fridge in a different location in your kitchen (if it can be moved).

Switch up the decor pieces in your house.

Move the dining table closer to the window.

You will feel so much better after this, I promise.

Declutter your space

Sometimes that feeling of wanting newness in life comes from being in a cluttered space.

Do away with the things that are not serving you currently.

Eliminate every tiny thing that is just collecting dust in your space.

Go through your closet and pack away clothes you’ve not worn for the past year.

Think differently: scarcity to abundance

Another way to be reset with a zero budget is to begin working on your mindset.

When I understood the power of the mind, it changed different areas of my life, drastically.

Move from thinking scarcity to thinking abundance.

A disclaimer here is that this is a long-term game but you can start today.

This is the best decision ever. There are so many resources online to support that.

The Bible is one of my best tools to help with that.

Take walks to think life through

A trip to Maldives is good, but with the right mindset, a walk down your street will also do the magic.

Walks are a good way to decompress.

It’s an opportunity to process everything outside the confines of your house.

Being in the house can be a bit depressing.

Reflect on things as the sunlight hits you and melts away all the limiting beliefs.

Get outside and be inspired by nature on how to do things differently.

Dress up once in a while

Say this with me: It’s okay to dress up to go nowhere.

This is one of those therapeutic things that’s underrated.

But for the sake of not making it sound absurd, let’s say you can dress up and take the walks we have just talked about.

I can confirm that it gives me an unmatched productivity boost.

Especially being a remote worker, I need such things to spice things up.

To go a step further, dress up as the person you desire to be. See yourself as that.

It does something to your mind and you begin working towards the things you want to be.

Make use of your networks

If there is a time for your network to come through for you, it is now, when you need the reset.

Please note, that you should never make your connections feel used.

Hear me out.

By stating this point, I’m assuming you have been keeping in touch with your network previously.

That will make it easy for them to assist you.

You might be needing a lead for a job or something else and one person in your connection always has the right information.

If not they know someone else who can help.

Journaling

I stand by journaling.

In fact, as I am typing this, I have just come from journaling.

Backstory: there was a test I was doing and I didn’t perform as I expected. Writing it in my journal has helped me process the emotions and now I feel better.

The alternative to this would have been therapy but remember we are riding on a zero-budget.

Normalize journaling.

It does not have to be only when documenting sad events. You can journal on anything.

Are you considering making some decisions?

Journal about it and see how that emotion sits with you.

Include self-care routines

I look at self-care as a way of giving yourself a warm hug.

Sometimes, this is what we have within our reach.

Self-care can be doing a home-based facial steaming. It can be applying polish on your toenails.

Repeating positive Bible verses to yourself is a way of self-love.

Watch a productivity video that uplifts you.

The list is endless.

Self-care is simply what you can do to and for yourself to feel loved.
