Productivity for a New Mum
You may not believe it right now, but yes, mama—you can still be productive, even with a little one in your arms.
Since becoming a mom myself, I’ve gained a whole new level of respect for all mothers out there. Honestly, it’s wild how much we juggle on a daily basis.
There’s a reason they say moms are expert multitaskers.
At any given moment, we’ve got at least 10 tabs open in our minds: Are the baby’s clothes clean? Do we have enough diapers? What’s for dinner? Did I drink any water today?
The mental load is real!
In the middle of all that, it’s so easy to feel like you’re not doing “enough” or being productive.
So I’m writing this to encourage you, mama—because I’ve needed this encouragement too.
There are a few mindset shifts that have helped me rethink what productivity really means in this new season of life.
Not to lower the bar, but to see it through the beautiful, messy, magical lens of motherhood.
1) Be Kind to Yourself
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned? Give yourself grace. Being a mom slows you down in ways you never expected—and that’s okay.
You’re not less capable, you’re just adjusting to a new rhythm. The more patient and kind you are with yourself, the better you’ll be able to show up for your baby and yourself
2) Remember—It’s Just a Season
This stage won’t last forever. The diapers, the sleepless nights, the endless feeding sessions—it’s all part of a fleeting season.
I’ve already found myself missing those tiny newborn days! So instead of being hard on myself for what I can’t do, I’m choosing to soak in the moments. Enjoy your little one. This season will be gone before you know it.
3) Use the Little Pockets of Time
You might not have long, uninterrupted hours anymore—but those tiny windows of time? They matter.
A quick 15 minutes while the baby naps can be gold. Use it to jot down ideas, write a caption, reply to a message, or even just breathe. It adds up more than you think.
4) Celebrate the Small Wins
One of my favorite reminders: “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Don’t downplay the little things. Folded baby laundry? Win. Managed to eat lunch before 3 p.m.? Victory!
Every small step forward is something to be proud of. This is your journey—don’t compare it to someone else’s.
5) Savor the Moments
Productivity isn’t just about ticking off tasks or earning money. Trimming your baby’s tiny nails? That’s a real accomplishment. Snuggling during nap time? That matters.
These are the precious, heart-melting moments that make this season so special. Be fully present. Enjoy the wonder of it all.
6) Rest is Productive Too
Let’s not forget—rest is essential for recovery. Whether you had a natural birth or a C-section, your body and mind need time to heal.
Resting isn’t being lazy; it’s you recharging so you can keep being the amazing mom you are. Sleep when you can, say no when you need to, and let go of the guilt.
7) Take Notes—Mentally and Digitally
There’s a lot to remember when you’re a mom, and some things will definitely slip through the cracks. I’ve found it super helpful to make quick notes during nursing sessions or while rocking the baby to sleep.
It could be a to-do, an idea, or a grocery item. Writing things down frees up space in your brain—and gives you more presence and peace in the moment.

Motherhood is beautiful, challenging, emotional, and full of unexpected joy. It’s a season unlike any other.
Embrace it, mama. You’re doing a good job—even on the days you don’t feel like it.
Productivity doesn’t always look like a to-do list. Sometimes, it looks like loving your baby well, taking care of yourself, and simply showing up every day.
You’ve got this. 💛
